Pirate Toffs

Managed to get another couple of pirates painted. I intend to paint all of the models before basing them. Time is no longer a luxury and I need to get these models finished.

Scurvy Dogs and Piratical Scum

I am currently painting about 50 Foundry Pirates for an upcoming club game to celebrate our 8th birthday. I hope to have some pics of the ships up online soon. For now here are a couple of pictures of some scurvy dogs.

Campaigning with the Duke of Wellington & Featherstone

Nipped home to see what the postman had delivered and my copy of Campaigning with the Duke of Wellington and Featherstone has arrived. I plan to take a good read of this text before plunging into the world of Napoleonic wargaming. Thanks to Clarence Harrison who name dropped this book as a source of reference that he is using. If you haven't already seen his work, check out the link to the left hand side. His work is excellent. It's the Quindialink. For now though, I still have a couple of hundred Confederate soldiers to paint in the meantime!

Back to the Painting Table

It's amazing how real life gets in the way of a few hours of painting. I have finally managed to get back to painting my 28mm Perry ACW Confederates. My first regiment was painted in base colours and then I used the Army Painter dip. I finished the first regiment off with the Daler Rowney Matt varnish.
Having taken inspiration from a range of blogs (you can find some of the links on this blog page) I have moved away from the dip method and I am trying out the 'Foundry method'. I am pleased with the first few miniatures and I plan to continue and improve my ability with this method.
I have also started to organise the regiments so that the models are of a similar pose, something which I should have done with the original unit.
